Hotzone Surf School Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura in winter is a paradise for big wave surfers and for those who want to get their first experience in riding big waves on the reef. I offer a program, which contains various steps to become a confident big wave rider.

In a 6 day big wave course you will learn and improve:

• Detailed theories about currents and wave knowledge.
  Surfing big waves is all about strategy. You get to know when it is wise to enter and where. Together we work on where to be and how to behave while you are out in between the big waves. Then there is always the wipe out part, therefore it is good to have an exit strategy.
• Advanced paddling.
  When you are out there with big waves you want to make sure you get the wave that you paddle for. This is why we will work on some good techniques that will improve your paddling skills.
• Surfing overhead to double overhead waves.
  I take you out in some bigger waves on a beach or reef break to get you more confident in these conditions.
• Critical take off.
  Together werefine the moment of standing up. With big waves it is a must to have commitment and to be able to control the board even when it gets more critical.
• Bottom turns.
  This is the most important move in surfing. Together we work on a powerful bottom turn, which is the key to good surfing.
• Duck dives, Eskimo rolls.
  I will tell you all the things you need to know in order to survive while paddling out in big waves.
• Surf big wave boards.
  I will give you the opportunity to surf big wave boards and will tell you how you can use these to your own benefit.
• How to survive while taking a few on the head.
  I have gained lots experience on this subject and will share this with you. It is not all about being fit. The biggest part is to stay calm and to be confident in the situation you get stuck in.

Best time for big wave courses is from September to April.

With the six day course you will receive a booklet with tips and tricks, stickers and some cool freebees.
